SIS: 96 foreign media organizations participate with the Foreign Minister in first “Meet the Foreign Media” session

Journalist Diaa Rashwan, Chairman of the State Information Service (SIS), announced the launch of the first of the previously announced monthly meetings titled “Meet the Foreign Media,” on Thursday evening, January 15, 2026, with the participation of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty. The meeting also witnesses the participation of 96 foreign media organizations operating in Egypt.

Rashwan stated that this type of meeting comes in implementation of the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to expand the scope of work and freedom of movement for foreign media correspondents accredited to the State Information Service, to provide them with all the officially documented and reliable information necessary for their professional work, and to brief them directly on developments and changes across all levels.  He, also, noted that it contributes to conveying to the world an objective and accurate image of what is happening in Egypt and its external actions.

The Chairman of the State Information Service (SIS) highlighted the purpose and format of these meetings, explaining that the monthly “Meet the Foreign Media” sessions aim to inform foreign media outlets of the facts and details of developments in Egypt across all fields. The meetings take the form of open, public, and direct dialogue sessions between foreign media correspondents in Egypt and Egyptian ministers and government officials, as well as other experts and specialists.

Rashwan also noted that the Foreign Correspondents Press Center affiliated with the State Information Service invited accredited foreign media organizations resident in Egypt to attend the meeting in accordance with established registration procedures. He added that participation statistics provided by the Press Center indicate the attendance of 180 individuals representing 96 accredited foreign media organizations from various countries around the world. These include 93 media organizations and 3 media services companies, comprising 29 international news and photo agencies, 33 major regional and international radio and television networks, 26 newspapers and magazines, and 5 electronic news websites.

Rashwan affirmed that the participation of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, in the first monthly “Meet the Foreign Media” session reflects the importance of these meetings. He explained that the session will include a presentation of the guiding principles of Egyptian foreign policy, Egypt’s official positions on regional and international issues, and its active external engagements in the recent period. The meeting will also include responses by the Minister of Foreign Affairs to questions and inquiries raised by foreign media correspondents.
