President El-Sisi Meets King of Jordan HM King Abdullah II

Today, at Cairo International Airport, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein. The President accompanied His Majesty to Al-Ittihadiya Palace to hold bilateral talks.

Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that the reception ceremony at Al-Ittihadiya Palace included an honor guard salute, the playing of the national anthems of both countries, and a commemorative photograph session. This was followed by a bilateral meeting between the two leaders, then an expanded session of talks attended by the delegations of both countries. Then, the President hosted a luncheon in honor of H.M. the King of Jordan and the accompanying delegation.

President El-Sisi welcomed the Jordanian King to his second home, Egypt, affirming the special fraternal relations that unite Egypt and Jordan and the need to advance them in a way that serves the interests and aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.

HM King Abdullah II expressed his pleasure at visiting Egypt, affirming his appreciation for the bonds of brotherhood and fruitful cooperation linking the two countries. The King stressed Jordan’s keenness to continue working with Egypt to expand bilateral relations to broader horizons, in addition to strengthening bilateral political consultation on various issues of mutual interest.

The meeting reviewed developments in the Gaza Strip. The two leaders emphasized the necessity of full implementation of the agreement to stop the war in Gaza, the implementation of President Trump’s peace plan, and the facilitation of the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza without restrictions, as well as the swift commencement of early recovery and reconstruction operations in the Strip.

President El-Sisi and Jordan’s King further reiterated the firm stance of Egypt and Jordan rejecting any attempts to displace the Palestinian people outside their land. They also discussed developments in the West Bank, reaffirming their rejection of all violations and arbitrary practices against the Palestinian people.

In the same context, both leaders stressed that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only path to achieve lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.

The meeting also touched on developments in a number of countries in the region. The two sides emphasized the importance of de-escalating regional tensions, enhancing joint action to maintain regional stability, the necessity of resolving crises through peaceful means, and respecting the sovereignty of states, their unity and territorial integrity, and preserving the resources of their peoples.
In this context, both leaders highlighted the need to continue political consultation between Egypt and Jordan on various issues and to intensify joint coordination in a way that supports regional peace and stability.

The meeting also discussed the current state of bilateral relations between the two countries. The two leaders expressed their contentment with the progress these relations are witnessing. They emphasized the need to move forward in strengthening and advancing these ties across various fields, including preparations for the upcoming session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee.

Following the events at Al-Ittihadiya Palace, President El-Sisi was keen to accompany Egypt’s distinguished guest to Cairo International Airport to bid His Majesty farewell as he departed for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
