This evening, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas.
Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said the call focused on current regional developments. President El-Sisi emphasized the urgent need to end the ongoing escalation and underscored the priority of peaceful solutions to all crises in the region, in a manner that safeguards the stability of states and the resources of their peoples.
The two leaders reiterated their categorical rejection of the Iranian attacks on Arab countries, particularly given those countries’ positions opposing war and their efforts to prevent its outbreak. President El-Sisi and the Palestinian President further warned of the negative repercussions of the war on the situation in the region, primarily the humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, as well as the related economic consequences.
The two Presidents also discussed developments in the Palestinian cause. President El-Sisi reviewed Egypt’s ongoing efforts, in coordination with mediators and all relevant parties, to ensure the completion of the second phase of the agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip and secure the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid and relief to its residents.
President Abbas expressed his profound appreciation for Egypt’s efforts and for President El-Sisi personally to achieve security and stability in the region. He particularly commended Egypt’s Kingdomsteadfast role in supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate right to an independent state. President Abbas also outlined the Palestinian National Authority’s vision for the implementation of reforms and advancing Palestinian reconciliation.
