Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, attended Iftar hosted by the Egyptian Military Academy. Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly,
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, a number of ministers, commanders of the main branches of the Armed Forces, media personalities, and students of the Military Academy and military colleges also attended the Iftar.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said President El-Sisi extended his greetings, appreciation, and respect to all those present, including the students and their families, and expressed pleasure at meeting with them on this occasion at the Egyptian Military Academy. The President pointed out the large number of students at the Academy, approximately 8,000.
President El-Sisi emphasized that the main objective of the Academy’s programs is human development, stressing the importance of this goal and the need to turn that attention into concrete action. The President confirmed that the state has made significant efforts to improve basic and university education and continues these efforts, noting the addition of private and non-profit universities. President El-Sisi said it was deemed appropriate to add another parallel experience: the educational programs at the Egyptian Military Academy, where specialists in sociology and psychology were engaged to design a roadmap for the most effective methods of human development.
President El-Sisi expressed his satisfaction with the positive feedback he received regarding the Academy’s programs. The President added that parents had previously expressed interest for their sons and daughters to be admitted to the Armed Forces College of Medicine, noting that a new batch of students was admitted this year. The President affirmed that the process of human development must be built on sound foundations to ensure well-rounded and balanced individuals capable of understanding and learning. The President noted that the presence of students from diverse backgrounds at the Academy is fully respected and fosters strong connections among students from different institutions. President El-Sisi further stressed that there is no favoritism or discrimination in the selection of students at the Academy, noting that competence and genuine merit are the criteria.
President El-Sisi indicated that the Academy’s educational programs aim to build upon the lessons learned from Egypt’s experiences since 2011. The goal is to bring professionals from various sectors together and to properly qualify personnel to achieve human development. The President added that Egypt needs generations with vision, awareness, and understanding to preserve the nation’s resources for current and future generations. The President also noted that teachers are being trained to join schools, emphasizing the importance of the training process when completed properly. The President pointed out that the standards at the Academy are based on strong principles and respect for all students, with a goal to build a modern state, established peacefully.
President El-Sisi also tackled the ongoing war in the Middle East, affirming that Egypt was keen to prevent this escalation because it knows from experience that wars bring destruction and damage to the interests and resources of nations. The President affirmed that Egypt continues its sincere and honest mediation efforts to stop the war because its continuation will have a heavy price. The President stressed that war is a reflection of miscalculations and misjudgments, noting that Egypt has faced many difficult circumstances, challenges, and offenses in recent years, but exercised patience in the face of offenses and conspiracies. This has proven successful and effective and has been applied in dealing with some countries.
The President addressed Egyptian citizens, reiterating the need to continue to act responsibly and build an understanding based on science and research, noting that the current crisis might have some repercussions on prices. The President gave directives to examine the possibility of referring those manipulating prices to the military judiciary and stressed the importance of not exploiting the circumstances to raise or manipulate prices, indicating that the country is in a state of near-emergency and that people’s needs must not be exploited. This is while reassuring citizens.
The President concluded his visit to the Egyptian Military Academy by performing the Isha (night) and Taraweeh prayers at the Academy’s mosque.
