Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Ahmed Attaf. The meeting was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Algerian Ambassador to Egypt Mohamed Sofiane and Chief of Cabinet of the Algerian minister Idris Latreche.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said Mr. Attaf delivered a letter from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to President El-Sisi, in which he expressed his sincere appreciation to the President and emphasized the deep-rooted ties that bind the two countries and the rapidly growing cooperation and partnership, in light of the remarkable development of investments and trade between the two countries. This is while stressing the mutual interest to further developing relations, and enhancing consultation and coordination mechanisms regarding the developments in the Arab world, the Middle East and Africa.
President El-Sisi welcomed Mr. Attaf and asked for his greetings to be conveyed to President Tebboune, stressing the deep close and historical ties between the two countries. The President noted the importance of capitalizing on the outcomes of the Joint Higher Committee meeting held in Cairo in November 2025 to further enhance cooperation, particularly in the sectors of trade and investment, and to serve the interests of both peoples. Furthermore, the President emphasized the need to intensify consultation and coordination between Egypt and Algeria in light of the exceptional circumstances the region is witnessing. This includes the tripartite mechanism among Egypt, Algeria, and Tunisia as a strategic diplomatic framework for Libya’s immediate neighbors, with the aim of advancing the comprehensive political settlement process and coordinating positions to end the Libyan crisis. President El-Sisi affirmed that the core guideline of Egyptian foreign policy is based on the continuous pursuit of avoiding escalation, non-interference in the internal affairs of states, striving to resolve crises through peaceful means, achieving stability and development, and safeguarding the resources of nations.
Mr. Attaf confirmed that President Tebboune looked forward to continuing political coordination with Egypt on various issues of common interest, in order to reinforce regional peace and stability, including through the tripartite mechanism with Tunisia. This is while stressing Algeria’s and President Tebboune’s personal interest to enhance cooperation with Egypt in various fields, since bilateral relations have witnessed a great leap during the past five years. Consequently, Egypt has become Algeria’s top trading partner in the Arab world and one of the top three investors in Algeria.
