Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met at the Amiri Diwan in Doha, Qatar, with the Amir of the State of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The meeting was part of the President’s visit to Doha at the start of his Gulf tour. An official reception ceremony was held for President El-Sisi, where the national anthems were played and the honor guard was inspected.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said the President and the Amir of Qatar chaired an expanded meeting that included the delegations of the two countries, followed by talks between the two leaders. Sheikh Tamim welcomed the President’s visit and affirmed that it represented the culmination of the growing momentum in relations between the two brotherly countries. President El-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in various fields, particularly through increasing trade and promoting Qatari investments in Egypt, so as to meet the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.
The two leaders exchanged views on efforts made to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and address the deteriorating humanitarian situation, by seeking to provide sufficient humanitarian aid to avert the humanitarian catastrophe facing the Strip, in addition to exchanging hostages and detainees. The two leaders affirmed their categorical rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from their land and emphasized the need to support the Arab plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip without displacing Palestinians, while working to create a political horizon that leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The two leaders also discussed regional developments, mainly the situation in Syria, Lebanon, and Sudan, and stressed the importance of preserving the unity and territorial integrity of these countries, and protecting the capabilities and stability of their peoples.
