President El-Sisi Meets Iranian President on Sidelines of BRICS Summit

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the BRICS summit held in Kazan, Russia.

The Spokesman for the Presidency said the two presidents agreed on the importance of joint efforts to explore prospects for developing bilateral relations. They also exchanged views on developments in the region. President El-Sisi emphasized the need to defuse regional tensions and avoid escalations that could lead the entire region into serious confrontations that have negative repercussions on security and stability.

The President reviewed the intense Egyptian efforts and contacts aimed at promoting a path to de-escalation and achieving a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, stressing the necessity of rallying international efforts to encourage all parties to positively engage with endeavors aimed at restoring calm in the region, so as to allow for addressing the humanitarian catastrophe experienced by civilians in Palestine and Lebanon.
