Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on the sidelines of the BRICS summit held in Kazan, Russia.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Ahmed Fahmy, said the two presidents confirmed interest in enhancing bilateral relations to set an example of what can be achieved at the continental level, in addition to continue strengthening and diversifying cooperation frameworks across various political, economic, and security levels, reflecting the strong historical ties between the two brotherly countries.
The meeting also addressed regional conditions. The two presidents reviewed Egypt and South Africa’s efforts to support the Palestinian issue and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. The two presidents affirmed continuing consultations and cooperation at all levels to achieve calm in the region and reach
a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, also to prevent violations in the West Bank, and support the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, which would achieve security and stability for all peoples in the region.
In this context, both presidents highlighted the importance of access to urgent humanitarian aid in Gaza. The South African president expressed appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role in this regard.
The two presidents discussed ways to promote African development priorities on the global agenda, particularly within the BRICS framework that Egypt has joined as a full member. Both presidents reiterated their commitment to continue working together to achieve the interests of African peoples and developing countries.
