Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdel-Atty.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said that in his capacity as Chairman of the Supreme Standing Committee for Human Rights in Egypt, the Foreign Minister submitted to the President the third executive report of the National Human Rights Strategy. The report reviewed progress achieved in the implementation of the strategy across all axes in Egypt over the past year, to ensure enhancing the status of human rights in Egypt in its comprehensive sense, including the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights. This is in addition to promoting the rights of women, youth, children, the elderly and people of determination.
The report also encompasses all initiatives, programs and measures implemented across the four axes of the National Human Rights Strategy. It also tackles national efforts to improve the relevant legislative and institutional architecture, entrench the culture of human rights in society, and build the capacities of employees in all state apparatuses.
President El-Sisi gave directives to continue state efforts toward promoting human rights in Egypt in their comprehensive sense. This is grounded in the state’s keenness on achieving this and ensuring a decent and stable life for Egyptian citizens. This shall guarantee their enjoyment of their rights and consolidate the foundations of citizenship, the rule of law and non-discrimination. The President also stressed the need to continue efforts to raise awareness of human rights in all state institutions and raise public awareness of rights and duties. He emphasized the importance of further developing the legislative and institutional framework supporting the success of this approach.
