Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, on the sidelines of the 12th edition of the World Urban Forum, which Cairo hosts from November 4-8, 2024.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Ahmed Fahmy, said President El-Sisi underscored the position of Egypt’s leadership and people in support of the Palestinian cause, and rejection of all forms of Israeli escalation against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank. The President confirmed that Egypt is continuing its tireless and persistent efforts to achieve calm, enforce a ceasefire, and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, while simultaneously working to protect the Palestinian people’s legitimate right to establish an independent state along the June 4, 1967 borders, in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy.
President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt’s unwavering support for the Palestinian Authority, highlighting its substantial efforts to assist its Palestinian brothers to reach understandings and foster consensus among all segments of the Palestinian population. This is essential to address the formidable challenges and threats facing the Palestinian cause during this critical historical juncture.
Palestinian President Abbas offered his perspective regarding the current developments. He expressed deep gratitude for Egypt’s historical role and relentless efforts in support of the Palestinian cause. The Palestinian President emphasized that the Palestinian people acknowledge and appreciate Egypt’s supportive role and the assistance it has provided and continues to extend to Palestine across all levels.
