This evening in Al-Alamein City, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received President of the Sovereign Council of Sudan, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said President El-Sisi and General Al-Burhan discussed the latest developments on the ground in Sudan, as well as regional and international efforts to restore peace and stability there. President El-Sisi underscored Egypt’s steadfast position in support of Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, security, and stability and emphasized Egypt’s readiness to exert all possible efforts in this regard. The two sides also agreed on the vital need to intensify endeavors to provide support and assistance to the brotherly Sudanese people, given the severe humanitarian conditions caused by the ongoing conflict.
The talks also focused on ways to strengthen bilateral relations, including reconstruction efforts in Sudan and opening new prospects for joint cooperation, particularly in economic fields, in a manner that reflects the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples toward achieving integration and mutual development.
The meeting also addressed regional developments, particularly in the Nile Basin region and the Horn of Africa. The two sides reiterated their shared views with regard to priorities pertinent to national security and confirmed their commitment to further enhancing coordination and joint action to safeguard water security. They also stressed their rejection of any unilateral measures in the Blue Nile Basin, while confirming the crucial importance of respecting the rules of international law in order to achieve the common interests of all basin countries.
