Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister of Ireland, Simon Harris, during his official visit, as part of his European tour.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, stated that President El-Sisi signed the VIP Guestbook at the Prime Minister’s office. During the meeting, the two sides emphasized their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations across various fields, particularly in the economic sector.
President El-Sisi and the Irish Prime Minister agreed to take concrete steps to benefit from Ireland’s technological expertise in sectors such as industry, communications, agriculture, and the environment, in order to fulfill the aspirations of the two peoples and serve their shared interests.
The meeting also addressed the situation in the Middle East, with an overview of Egypt’s efforts to reach a ceasefire and facilitate unfettered and unconditional delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. The two sides also reiterated the crucial need to prevent further escalation or expansion of the conflict.
The Irish Prime Minister expressed appreciation for Egypt’s historical role in supporting the Palestinian cause and people, commending Egypt’s diligent and wise efforts toward de-escalation and achieving stability in the region. The President lauded Ireland’s bold stances in support of the Palestinian cause. The two sides confirmed that expanding the recognition of a Palestinian State, within the framework of the two-state solution, represents a fundamental guarantor for establishing peace, restoring stability and advancing development efforts in the Middle East. Concluding the meeting, President El-Sisi extended an invitation to the Irish Prime Minister to participate in the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
