President El-Sisi Meets UNESCO Elected Director-General Dr. El-Enany

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Dr. Khaled El-Enany, the elected Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The meeting was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdel-Atty.

The Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, stated that President El-Sisi began the meeting by renewing his congratulations to Dr. El-Enany for his landslide victory in the elections of the UNESCO Executive Board, having secured the support of 55 out of 57 countries, and being elected as Director-General of the Organization.

President El-Sisi emphasized that this victory represents a historic achievement, reflecting Egypt’s elevated standing and embodying the deep international appreciation for its cultural and civilizational heritage and intellectual contributions, as well as its influential presence in regional and international forums. The President also expressed his profound appreciation and gratitude to the countries that supported Egypt’s candidate.

Dr. El-Enany expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to President El-Sisi for the immense support, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, its ambassadors and diplomats, Egypt’s mission to UNESCO, the members of his campaign for the nomination, and the relevant national entities, which culminated in this historic victory.

Dr. El-Enany stressed that the international confidence placed in him carries a great responsibility, requiring continuous work to enhance international cooperation in protecting human heritage, spreading knowledge, and consolidating the values of peace, coexistence, and tolerance among different civilizations.

Dr. El-Enany also pointed out that his vision for the coming phase aims to achieve the objectives of UNESCO and activate its role in its areas of specialization. In this context, President El-Sisi reaffirmed the importance of continuing close cooperation between Egypt and UNESCO in the educational, pedagogical, and cultural fields, and in efforts to preserve human heritage. The President reiterated Egypt’s commitment to supporting the Organization’s activities and humanitarian initiatives, and working together to build bridges of communication between cultures and peoples.
