Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian.
Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that the call reviewed developments related to the Iranian nuclear file. President El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s deep concern over the rising tensions in the region.
The President emphasized the need to avoid escalation and reject military solutions. The President reaffirmed that diplomatic solutions are the only viable and optimal path to resolving the crisis, in a way that spares the Middle East further tension and instability.
The President reiterated Egypt’s persistent efforts aimed at bringing the United States and Iran back to the negotiating table. The aim is to reach a peaceful and comprehensive settlement of the Iranian nuclear file to bolster regional and international stability. The President previously underscored the importance of this matter to U.S. President Donald Trump, during their recent meeting on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
President El-Sisi noted that Egypt looked forward to upholding the value of dialogue by the concerned parties to overcome differences and reach a comprehensive settlement. The President stressed Egypt’s support for all efforts made in this regard.
The Iranian president expressed his profound gratitude and appreciation for Egypt’s positive role in avoiding escalation and maintaining security and stability in the region. He affirmed Iran’s keenness to boost consultation and political coordination with Egypt to support regional stability.
