Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi spoke by phone with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said President El-Sisi congratulated the Canadian prime minister for winning the elections recently, demonstrating the confidence of Canadian voters. The President expressed his sincere wishes for the Canadian prime minister’s success and emphasized that Egypt looked forward to working with the Canadian government to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
The call addressed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in the economic, trade, and investment fields, to serve the interests of both countries. Both sides affirmed their commitment to working together to explore prospects for cooperation in various sectors of mutual interest.
The call also addressed regional developments and ways to restore stability in the region. The President reviewed Egypt’s efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, stressing the importance of benefiting from the ongoing regional truce to reach an agreement on this matter and urgently deliver humanitarian aid to the Strip. The President emphasized that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, is the only guarantee of sustainable stability in the Middle East.
