President El-Sisi Speaks with French President Macron

alhadath – cairo

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi spoke by phone with French President Emmanuel Macron.

The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the call addressed developments pertinent to the strategic partnership between Egypt and France and ways to effectuate the agreements concluded between the two sides during President Macron’s visit to Egypt in April 2025.

Both sides agreed to continue advancing bilateral relations across various fields to serve the interests of the two peoples. President Macron also congratulated the President on Dr. Khaled El-Enany’s victory in the UNESCO Executive Board elections and his election as UNESCO Director-General.

President El-Sisi valued France’s supportive stance on the Palestinian issue, which culminated in France’s recognition of the Palestinian State on September 22, 2025, during the two-state solution conference in New York, held under the joint presidency of the French Republic and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The President praised this declaration as an incentive for other countries to recognize the State of Palestine, in line with the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in accordance with internationally agreed upon terms of reference and United Nations resolutions, along the June 4, 1967 borders , with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The two presidents discussed ways to immediately end the war in the Gaza Strip and reviewed the ongoing efforts and negotiations hosted by Egypt for the relevant parties to implement the plan announced by US President Donald Trump to end the war. The two presidents affirmed their appreciation for the plan and emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire, the unhindered expansion of humanitarian and relief aid into the Gaza Strip, the exchange of hostages and captives, and the immediate commencement of the reconstruction process in the Gaza Strip without displacing the Palestinian people from their land. Both presidents agreed to continue close consultations between the two countries in light of the ongoing intensive efforts to end the war and stop the humanitarian tragedy that the Palestinians face in the Strip.
