Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez.
Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said the call focused on current regional developments. President El-Sisi reviewed Egypt’s persistent efforts to end the war, stressing the imperative of concerted international and regional efforts to achieve this objective and shield the countries and peoples of the region from the dire repercussions of instability and the resulting disruptions to energy markets and global supply chains.
The President reiterated Egypt’s categorical condemnation of aggressions against brotherly Arab states, vehemently rejecting any infringement upon their sovereignty, stability, or the resources of their peoples. President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast and unequivocal position in support of these brotherly Arab countries.
Spain’s Prime Minister Sánchez expressed his appreciation for the efforts exerted by Egypt and the President to bring about an end to the war and de-escalate the ongoing tensions. The Prime Minister underscored his country’s rejection of the war and its advocacy for peaceful resolutions to this crisis and to all international conflicts. President El-Sisi and Prime Minister Sánchez agreed on the importance of bolstering joint coordination to end the current escalation and mitigate its negative repercussions, particularly those of an economic nature.
The call also tackled Egyptian-Spanish bilateral relations. The President lauded the growing momentum in the two countries’ relations, which were elevated to the level of a strategic partnership in 2025, a milestone that demonstrates the profound historical ties and establishes a new era of fruitful cooperation, notably in the spheres of transport, trade, and investment.
The two sides emphasized the vital necessity to implement the outcomes of the President’s visit to Spain in February 2025, as well as the agreements reached during the visit of His Majesty the King of Spain to Egypt in September of the same year, thereby bolstering the path of strategic cooperation between the two friendly countries.
