President El-Sisi’s Speech at the Opening Ceremony of The Grand Egyptian Museum

alhadath – cairo

“In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful”

Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds

Ladies and gentlemen,

Your Majesties, Excellencies, and Highnesses

Egypt’s honorable guests,

The great people of Egypt,

May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon you

I commence my address by welcoming you all to the land of Egypt, the most ancient state known to history.

It is here that civilization traced its very first letters, and where the world witnessed the dawn of thought, writing, art, and faith.

From the shores of the Nile, Ancient Egypt bestowed its inspiration upon the peoples of the world. The luminance of wisdom radiated forth, brilliantly casting their light upon the path of civilization and human progress.

This stands as an eternal declaration: that the great edifices of civilization are only built during eras of peace, and thrive through a collaborative spirit shared by all peoples.

And today, as we gather to celebrate the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, we are inscribing a new chapter in the annals of both the present and the future in the enduring story of this ancient nation.

For this is the world’s largest museum dedicated to a single civilization: the Civilization of Egypt, whose brilliance is eternal and whose splendor shall never fade.

This majestic edifice is not merely a repository for precious antiquities; it is, rather, a living testament to the genius of the Egyptian people; the same genius that raised the Pyramids and carved upon temple walls the saga of eternity. This testament narrates for generations the story of a nation whose roots are profoundly anchored in the depths of human history, and whose branches continue to shade its present, ensuring its enduring contribution to the service of humanity.

Esteemed guests,

This achievement, which we are all honored to inaugurate today, is the culmination of extensive international collaboration with a multitude of global companies and institutions. We must also acknowledge the substantial support rendered by our friendly nation, Japan, whose support was instrumental to this colossal civilizational project.

I also express my deepest appreciation for the devoted efforts and sincere commitment demonstrated over the past years by our sons and daughters, the officials, engineers, researchers, archaeologists, technicians, and laborers, who dedicated their efforts to achieving this magnificent historical mission.

Ladies and gentlemen,

The Grand Egyptian Museum stands as a living embodiment of a people who have inhabited the land of the Nile since the very dawn of history. Thus, the Egyptian has always been, and remains, diligent, resilient, and generous, a builder of civilizations, a maker of glory, and a soul fiercely proud of his homeland, always carrying the banner of knowledge and acting as a messenger of peace.

Throughout the ages, Egypt has stood as an unwavering oasis of stability, a confluence of diverse cultures, and a perpetual guardian of human heritage.

Concluding my words, once again, I welcome you all in your second home, Egypt, the land of Civilization and History, the land of Peace and Love. I invite you to enjoy this magnificent celebration, and to ensure that this Museum becomes a truly global forum for dialogue, a primary destination for knowledge, a sanctuary for humanity, and a beacon for all who cherish life and believe in the value of the human spirit.

Long Live Egypt, Long Live Humanity.

Thank you.

May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon you all.
