SIS: Unprecedented global media mobilization for the Grand Egyptian Museum inauguration

alhadath – cairo

Chairman of the State Information Service Diaa Rashwan announced that hundreds of international television channels, networks, and media platforms will broadcast live coverage of the Grand Egyptian Museum’s inauguration to millions of people worldwide. All people eagerly anticipate this unprecedented cultural, touristic, and historic event, which holds immense significance and symbolism for those interested in humanity’s civilizational heritage. The occasion is further elevated by the participation of the largest gathering of world leaders, heads of state, officials, and prominent cultural and media figures from the international community.

Regarding the number of international media correspondents covering the museum’s opening ceremony and events, Rashwan said that SIS has issued media coverage accreditations to 450 correspondents representing 180 international media outlets. These include accredited resident correspondents in Egypt and visiting journalists who arrived specifically to relay this historic celebration to the world.

The Chairman of the State Information Service further stated that, in addition to these figures, SIS—in cooperation with the relevant institutions—has provided free live transmission lines to thousands of international television channels for broadcasting the opening ceremony and its associated events, alongside the participation of hundreds of photographers and media personnel accompanying the leaders and official delegations.

The State Information Service has established operations rooms at its headquarters and at the Foreign Correspondents’ Media Center to provide all necessary facilitations for correspondents, enabling them to convey coverage commensurate with the significance of this major event. These operations rooms supply media professionals around the clock with data and information, and—in cooperation with the National Press Authority—provide them with distinguished coverage produced by Egyptian media outlets, particularly those published in foreign languages. These include:

Al-Ahram Hebdo, which has prepared comprehensive files in French.

Al-Ahram Weekly and The Egyptian Gazette, both issued in English.

Al-Ahram Online, the website operated by Al-Ahram.

SIS is also monitoring, tracking, and analyzing international media coverage of the event, informing the Egyptian public through reports and statements immediately following the conclusion of the celebratory activities.

In concluding his statement, the Chairman of the State Information Service commended the extensive and professional coverage provided by Egyptian media, befitting this major national occasion—particularly as numerous global newspapers and foreign media outlets relay this coverage to audiences worldwide.
