Dr. Adawi stressed that the Egyptian movements during the past few years and since President Abd Al- Fattah Al-Sisi took charge, Africa has been holding a major and advanced role in the political leadership which confirms the historical and strategic importance of the Egyptian African relations.
H.E the President of the Republic has always referred to the African continent as a priority in all his speeches and the measures taken by Egypt in terms of development in African countries and across Africa.
That was clearly and explicitly mentioned when he said: “We are determined to return Egypt to its position and make an active contribution with the rest of the countries of the continent to confront the challenges that await us, especially terrorism, organized crime, epidemics and environmental degradation.
The success of Egypt in the implementation of a number of developmental and infrastructural projects in more than 23 countries in the continent including the “Cairo-Cape Town” project is the biggest evidence of support of the political leadership to the African continent. The Cairo-Cape Town project is considered to be the longest project to link Northern and Southern African countries together through the construction of land roads.
H.E Abd El Fattah Al-Sisi said that health care in Egypt witnessed an unprecedented leap based on the clear and comprehensive 2030 vision, and accordingly, the latest medications has been listed in the treatment protocols regardless of its expense. The Egyptian Health Insurance System, Universal Health Insurance, State Funded Medical Treatment, Unified Procurement Authority, The Egyptian Drug Authority, The General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation, and others were clear examples of the advancement of the health care system while having patients’ well-being as their main priority. The presidential initiatives also constituted noticeable care for egyptian patients with great generosity in order to provide the best types of treatments to all citizens for all diseases without discrimination so that the Egyptian patient can enjoy a service that is not available in many developed countries.
He added that this was fairly similar to the human development report in Egypt 2021, as the world witnessed Egypt’s reform efforts towards it’s improvement on a physical and monetary level. Over the past years, Egypt has had comprehensive reform, giving the priority to economic advancement as an essential pillar for development, while placing the egyptian citizen at the heart of the development process.
The report mentioned that Egypt progressed in the international competition 26 rankings and 48 rankings in the world infrastructure index only over the past five or six years a midst the global

pandamic “Covid19”; however, Egypt was able to withstand and continue the process of development and progress.
He said public investments has doubled in the health care sector 19 times to reach 54 billion pounds in 2021, while being 2.7 billion pounds in 2013. In addition, 20 initiatives have been launched aiming at improving the health of the Egyptian citizen by completing the universal health insurance system, one that comes on top of the projects adopted by the Egyptian government.
In the field of health, the expenditure rate of the social housing project and the improvement and availability of adequate housing has reached 430 billion pounds, the intensification of programs to establish adequate housing for citizens for more than one million families, and the activation of the “Life initiative”.
In continuation of this approach and this political framework, and in light of the directions of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, to develop the medical system to strengthen ties with the countries of the African and Arab continent, and to emphasize Egypt’s leading role in the region, and in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 to achieve the state’s strategic plan and to advance the achievement of the United Nations sustainable development goals “good health and well-being” and the healthy Egypt vision for the year 2030 to implement universal health care coverage and strengthen prevention and public health.
The establishment of this exhibition and the first African medical forum “Africa Health ExCon” came with the aim of integration and cooperation in the field of health between African countries to meet the needs in the medical field, whether products or services, or to open new markets for local companies and improve export opportunities to African and Arab countries through the Africa Health ExCon portal via Egypt.
In the end, there is no doubt that the Covid-19 pandemic clearly reflected the importance of supporting the health care sector in the whole world, to confront this pandemic and the coming pandemics. It shed light on the need for all countries of the world to be ready to share science and scientific developments to confront the health problems resulting from these pandemics. Thus, one of the important reasons that reflects the importance of the forum and the exhibition is the exchange of ideas and the latest medical technologies in the treatment of diseases, therefore, achieving interoperability.
