President El-Sisi Speaks with the President of Cyprus

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, focusing on bilateral relations and regional developments.

Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Ahmed Fahmy, said the two Presidents emphasized their countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in an array of domains for the benefit of their peoples, particularly in the economic, energy, and electrical connectivity fields. President El-Sisi and the Cypriot President underscored commitment to the Tripartite Cooperation Mechanism with Greece and its regular meetings, considering it an important tool for promoting regional cooperation.

The call also touched on regional developments and ways to de-escalate tensions in the area.
President El-Sisi reiterated the need for all parties to exercise wisdom and responsibility, and for an immediate and urgent ceasefire in both Gaza and Lebanon. He warned of the grave consequences of the ongoing escalation on all the peoples of the region and on their aspirations for stability and development.

The Cypriot President lauded Egypt’s efforts to restore stability in the region and stressed his country’s commitment to supporting all efforts aimed at promoting peace and security.
