President El-Sisi’s Speech at the Opening of the Egypt-Denmark Economic Summit

alhadath – cairo

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and His Majesty King Frederik X of Denmark inaugurated in Copenhagen the Egyptian-Danish Economic Conference, as part of the President’s state visit to the Kingdom of Denmark.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the President and the King of Denmark launched the Business Council between the two countries, in the presence of a number of businessmen and CEOs of a number of Egyptian and Danish companies.
Following is the speech delivered by the President at the opening of the conference:
In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Benevolent
Your Majesty, King Frederik X, King of the Kingdom of Denmark,
It is a pleasure to have you with us. Allow me, on the occasion of my first time in Denmark, and on behalf of the Egyptian people, to congratulate Your Majesty on taking the throne of the Kingdom of Denmark. I extend my heartfelt wishes of success. I do hope that Your Majesty visit Egypt so we can reciprocate the hospitality and reception that befits Your Majesty. I also would like to thank you for the warm welcome.
Honourable Ministers,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Representatives of the Egyptian and Danish business sectors,
Distinguished Guests,
At the outset, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude and appreciation to Your Majesty the King and to the friendly Kingdom of Denmark for the warm reception and generous hospitality in your gracious country. I also express profound gratitude for the extensive efforts undertaken to organize the Egypt-Denmark Economic Conference and commend His Majesty the King of Denmark for gracing this significant event with his presence.
I would also like to extend appreciation and respect to the Danish business community for their pivotal role in fostering collaboration between our two countries and achieving our shared goals.
Your Majesty,
Honorable attendees,
The recent period has been marked by a succession of regional and international challenges that have had significant repercussions on Egypt, as they have on many other countries around the world. In response, the Government of Egypt has adopted a bold economic plan, designed to create a conducive environment for foreign investment, empower the private sector and stimulate job creation.
Driven by the measures undertaken, the Egyptian economy successfully navigated this challenging period, resulting in positive economic indicators and a strengthened credit rating.
Your Majesty,
Ladies and gentlemen,
Tomorrow, we will sign a Joint Declaration promoting the level of Egyptian-Danish relations to a Strategic Partnership. I would like to seize this opportunity to confirm that the economic, trade, and investment aspects as well as forging closer cooperation between the two sides’ private sectors, are at the core of this partnership. This includes sectors of common interest such as shipping; maritime transport; clean, renewable and green energy; as well as other sectors, where Egypt offers ample opportunities for Danish businesses.
The establishment of the “Egypt-Denmark Business Council” serves as a gateway for Danish economic and commercial bodies to explore investment opportunities in Egypt, notably in the sectors of infrastructure, Information and Communication Technology, transformative industries, the production of clean, renewable and green energy, and circular economy. This aligns with Egypt’s ambition to become a regional hub for supply chains and the transport and trade of renewable and green energy, leveraging its geographic proximity, strategic location as well as investment-friendly zones such as the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
Egypt extends a warm welcome to Danish investors to establish projects in sectors of mutual interest, thereby contributing to boosting the size and scope of Danish investments in Egypt and building on successful partnerships, such as the longstanding cooperation with A.P. Moller – Maersk Group, spanning over 20 years.
I would like to reiterate the Government of Egypt’s commitment to providing all forms of support, assistance and facilitation to Danish companies operating in Egypt and those interested to launch business in the country. I also underscore the Egyptian business community’s keenness on maintaining its successful partnership with the Danish counterpart to bolster mutual interests and leverage the available opportunities.
Your Majesty the King ,
Honorable Attendees,
I look forward to a successful and productive conference, yielding tangible and actionable outcomes, paving the way for increased Danish investments in Egypt and achieving mutual benefits for our peoples.
