President El-Sisi Meets Iran’s Foreign Minister Araghchi

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Araghchi. The meeting was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, and Director of the General Intelligence Service, Major General Hassan Rashad.

Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the Iranian Foreign Minister conveyed Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s greetings and appreciation to President El-Sisi, who valued this gesture. The two sides emphasized the importance of pursuing the current path to explore prospects for further advancing the two countries’ relations.

The meeting focused on the rapid developments in the region. President El-Sisi underscored Egypt’s steadfast stance rejecting the expansion of conflict. The President reiterated the imperative of de- escalation in order to prevent a slide into a full-fledged regional war, which would have severe repercussions for the security and resources of all countries and peoples in the region. In this regard, President El-Sisi highlighted the significance of the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the U.S.

President El-Sisi stressed the crucial need for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and providing unfettered access for humanitarian assistance. The President also emphasized the necessity of restoring normal navigation in Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Red Sea region. for his part, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Araghchi, commended Egypt’s pivotal role in reinstating regional stability, affirming his country’s commitment to further enhancing consultations between the two countries during the coming period.
