This evening, in the Pyramids area, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Mrs. Entissar El-Sisi, the First Lady, hosted a dinner banquet in honor of His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain and Her Majesty Queen Letizia, who are on a state visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said President El-Sisi once again welcomed His Majesty King Felipe VI, emphasizing that the visit generates great momentum in the strategic partnership between Egypt and Spain.
King Felipe VI stated that visiting Egypt was a source of great pride for him, and extended his gratitude and appreciation to President El-Sisi for the warm reception and hospitality he, the Queen, and their accompanying delegation received since their arrival in Cairo.
His Majesty the King of Spain also lauded the outcomes of his talks with President El-Sisi earlier in the day which will lead to tangible progress in bilateral relations, given the alignment of their visions on various issues of mutual interest. The meeting also touched on bilateral relations, particularly in the economic and investment fields.
President El-Sisi also valued the cultural cooperation between the two countries, which dates back to the 1960s. The President stressed the importance of strengthening the two countries’ cooperation in the field of archeology, exploring opportunities to organize joint cultural and artistic events, and fostering academic and educational cooperation to enhance ties and interaction between the two peoples.
The two sides also explored opportunities for collaboration in the tourism sector, including the exchange of expertise and efforts to increase tourism between the two countries, given the unique tourism potential they both possess, especially with the upcoming opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Following the dinner banquet, President El-Sisi and Mrs. El-Sisi accompanied the King and Queen of Spain on a tour of the Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx. Commemorative photos were taken to document the visit. The King and Queen, accompanied by the President and First Lady, were briefed on the history of the Sphinx and the eternal civilizational heritage it symbolizes.
