President El-Sisi Meets Apache CEO

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received the CEO of Apache Corporation, a global oil exploration and production company, Mr. John Christmann. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Eng. Karim Badawi. The Vice President of Apache Egypt Assets and Country Manager, Greg McDaniel was also present.

The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said President El-Sisi commended Apache’s successes in Egypt over the past decades and valued the ongoing cooperation between the Egyptian government and the corporation. The President lauded its plans to expand its operations in Egypt in accordance with the highest international standards, noting that Apache is one of the most important partners in the Egyptian oil and gas sector, being the largest US investor in Egypt. The President stressed that the corporation’s initiatives in Egypt have contributed to conveying a positive message about the solidity of Egyptian-US cooperation and encouraging more US investments in the energy sector.

The meeting followed up on Apache’s activities in Egypt, and its plans to expand and increase the scope of its business to continue the fruitful cooperation between Egypt and the company in the fields of oil and gas research, exploration and production. The Apache CEO valued meeting with the President again, noting the importance of the relationship between Egypt and the corporation within the framework of its programs at the international level. Mr. Christmann confirmed that Apache looked forward to enhancing efforts to increase production rates in the coming period, in light of the numerous opportunities to achieve new discoveries.

President El-Sisi also discussed the special status of the exploratory program for the new areas assigned to the corporation in the Western Desert, stressing Egypt’s readiness to provide all necessary facilities to Apache, which would contribute to achieving the common interests of both sides. The President looked forward for Apache to intensify its exploration and development activities in Egypt.
