Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Aide to the President of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Maritime Board of Russia, Mr. Nikolai Patrushev.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Transport, Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir; Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty; and Advisor to the President for National Security Affairs, Ambassador Fayza Abul Naga.
From the Russian side, Chargé d’Affaires of the Russian Federation in Cairo, Mr. Yuri Matveev; Head of the Presidential Directorate for National Maritime Policy, Mr. Sergey Vakhrukov; Deputy Director of the Presidential Directorate for National Maritime Policy, Mr. Yevgeny Anushin; and Advisor to the Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Mr. Konstantin Manasenko, were also in attendance.
Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said President El-Sisi began the meeting by welcoming Mr. Patrushev and his accompanying high-level delegation. The President confirmed Egypt’s pride in its strategic relations with the Russian Federation, expressing his deep appreciation for Russian President Vladimir Putin. President El-Sisi lauded the growing momentum in bilateral cooperation, particularly with regard to trade exchange and joint projects, primarily the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant and the establishment of a Russian Industrial Zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. This is in addition to other projects that demonstrate the profound and unique characteristics of Egyptian-Russian ties.
Mr. Patrushev conveyed President Putin’s greetings to the President, stressing that his visit, along with his accompanying delegation, reflects Russia’s commitment to sustaining joint efforts with Egypt to activate the provisions of the strategic partnership between the two countries and implement the understandings agreed-upon by their leaderships, whether during the President’s visit to Russia in May 2025 or through telephone communications between the two Presidents, the most recent of which was on March 31, 2026. He added that the visit also confirms Russia’s keenness on exploring potential cooperation across various areas, including maritime navigation. The meeting also focused on the status of existing joint projects as well as prospective ones in Egypt, and reviewed the outcomes of the discussions held by the Russian delegation with the relevant national authorities.
Mr. Patrushev expressed the Russian leadership’s profound appreciation for President El-Sisi’s efforts and Egypt’s pivotal role, emphasizing Russia’s support for Egypt’s efforts and commitment to further strengthening coordination between the two countries across various levels.
