Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a phone call with Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq Mr. Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi.
Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that President El-Sisi congratulated the Iraqi Prime Minister on assuming office.
The President expressed wishes of continued security, stability, and prosperity for Iraq under the leadership of the new Iraqi government.
President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt’s looking forward to continuing work with the Iraqi side to strengthen the fraternal ties between the two countries.
The President also looked forward to further advancing bilateral relations across various fields in a way that fulfills the aspirations and interests of the two peoples, particularly through the ongoing preparations for the upcoming session of the Egyptian-Iraqi Joint Higher Committee.
For his part, the Iraqi Prime Minister expressed deep appreciation for the President’s congratulations, highlighting Iraq’s keenness to continue the development of bilateral relations with Egypt, including in the trade and investment fields, as well as advancing the existing political coordination between the two countries regarding various regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The call also tackled regional developments.
President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Iraq’s security and stability, stressing the importance of keeping Iraq away from any regional conflicts that could affect its stability, a stance highly valued by the Iraqi Prime Minister.
The two sides also reviewed ways to boost efforts aimed at preserving and protecting the sovereignty of Arab states in light of the current regional challenges, in order to safeguard the resources and security of the Arab peoples.
