Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received the CEO of Shell plc, Mr. Wael Sawan. Also present at the meeting were Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Eng. Karim Badawi, country chair of Shell Egypt Ms. Dalia El-Gabry.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said President El-Sisi welcomed the ongoing cooperation between Shell and Egypt and valued Shell’s partnership with the Egyptian petroleum sector. Mr. Sawan thanked the President for his continuous support for cooperation between the two sides, stressing Shell’s commitment to the strategic partnership with the Egyptian oil and gas sector.
The meeting focused on ways to further enhance cooperation between the two sides. President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt’s efforts to develop the investment climate and overcome any obstacles investors face, noting Egypt’s keenness to pay companies’ dues in a way that enhances confidence between the two sides. The President also emphasized the importance of Shell intensifying exploration and development activities in its concession areas to increase production rates and contribute to unlocking the full potential of the Egyptian oil and gas sector and thereby achieving mutual benefit.
Mr. Sawan affirmed the company’s commitment to continuing its cooperation with Egypt and exploring further opportunities in the country’s promising energy sector, to achieve mutual benefit. He lauded the Egyptian government’s role in overcoming obstacles in this regard.
