President El-Sisi Meets US President Trump on sidelines of Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received US Donald Trump. A bilateral discussion session was held, including the delegations of both countries, before the two presidents inaugurated and co-chaired the Sharm El-Sheikh peace summit.

The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said President El-Sisi began the meeting by welcoming President Trump to Egypt, praising the close relations that bind Egypt and the United States. The President valued the US President’s vision aimed at ending the conflicts and wars around the world, which has significantly contributed to advancing efforts to end the war in the Gaza Strip.

The meeting discussed the historical and diverse relations between Egypt and the United States and their ongoing cooperation in achieving peace and maintaining stability in the Middle East.

President El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s profound appreciation for President Trump’s role in halting the war in Gaza, and reiterated Egypt’s commitment to continuing its sincere and tireless efforts to implement President Trump’s plan to end the war and achieve stability, as well as to remove any obstacles or difficulties that may hinder the plan.

President El-Sisi stressed that Egypt has a leading role in launching the peace process in the Middle East and believes that the US role is essential and a fundamental guarantee for achieving peace. Egypt also believes that peace requires exceptional leaders capable of taking and implementing bold initiatives, following President Trump.
President El-Sisi expressed his hope that the Sharm El-Sheikh peace summit would be a turning point and the beginning of a new phase of real, comprehensive, and just peace in the region. The President stressed the importance of the United States’ and President Trump’s personal support for the Gaza Reconstruction Conference. This was valued by the US president.
President Trump expressed his deep appreciation for the leadership and people of Egypt, lauding President El-Sisi’s wise leadership, which led to the conclusion of this historic agreement.
President Trump also expressed his pleasure to visit Egypt and co-chair the Sharm El-Sheikh peace summit with President El-Sisi. He reaffirmed the United States’ keenness to engage with its partners in the region to achieve integration, development, and economic prosperity for all their peoples, and to build a better future based on cooperation rather than conflict. The meeting also addressed the latest regional developments.

The meeting also touched on relations between the two countries. President El-Sisi looked forward to continue working with President Trump to advance and foster the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States, and to further elevate relations across various fields, including developing economic cooperation.
President Trump indicated that he supports strengthening economic and investment relations between Egypt and the United States, and that he encourages American companies to reinforce and intensify their presence and investments in Egypt. He also affirmed that the United States would support Egypt within international financial institutions.
