President El-Sisi Receives Phone Call from Iranian President Pezeshkian

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that the call focused on the ongoing efforts to reach a memorandum of understanding between the American and Iranian sides.

President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for the current negotiation track. The President reviewed Egypt’s communications and endeavors to facilitate the negotiations and pave the way toward a final and comprehensive agreement that puts an end to escalation and restores security and stability to the region.

In this context, President El-Sisi referred to his recent participation in the joint phone call that included the U.S. President and a number of Arab and regional leaders. The President reiterated Egypt’s position calling for peaceful settlement to all regional crises and its categorical rejection of any infringement on the sovereignty of the Gulf states or threats to their territorial integrity.

The President also emphasized the importance of showing flexibility, avoiding miscalculations, and allowing sufficient opportunity for the diplomatic track.

The Iranian President reviewed the course of the ongoing negotiations and expressed appreciation for Egypt’s and regional parties’ efforts to bridge viewpoints between the Iranian and American sides.

President Pezeshkian also stressed his country’s keenness to strengthen fraternal relations with all Arab countries, especially the Gulf Cooperation Council states.

In this regard, President El-Sisi underscored Egypt’s firm position based on upholding the principles of international law, particularly respecting state sovereignty, good neighborliness, and the peaceful settlement of disputes.

The two presidents further exchanged greetings on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, expressing wishes that Allah the Almighty would bring this occasion back to the Arab and Islamic nations with goodness, progress, and blessings, and that all the peoples of the region may enjoy peace, stability, and prosperity.
