President El-Sisi Speaks with French President Macron

This evening , President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron.

Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said the call focuses on ways to further advance the outstanding bilateral relations between Egypt and France. President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s pride in the comprehensive
Strategic Partnership between the two countries as well as the growing momentum in bilateral cooperation.

President El-Sisi highlighted the huge popular welcome accorded to President Macron’s recent visit to Egypt during which he participated in the inauguration of the new headquarters of Senghor University in Alexandria. This constituted a fresh testament to the special characteristics of Egyptian‑French relations at both the popular and official levels.

French President Macron expressed his appreciation for President El-Sisi’s efforts to achieve comprehensive development in Egypt, valuing the President’s keenness on fostering closer Egyptian-French relations across all spheres of mutual interest.

During their call, the two Presidents discussed the latest developments on the regional and international arenas. President El-Sisi lauded the close convergence of positions between Egypt and France on a multitude of issues of mutual concern. The President pointed out in particular France’s support for efforts aimed at reaching a just and comprehensive solution of the Palestinian issue and the crisis in Lebanon. President El-Sisi outlined Egypt’s efforts and vision in this regard, and referred to Egypt’s intensive contacts with the various parties concerned to ensure the success of endeavors to reach a comprehensive agreement between the United States and Iran that would avert renewed escalation and lead to the restoration of security and stability in the region and in the Gulf States. The President underscored the determinants of Egypt’s position in this context, which is grounded in the principles of international law and in respect for the sovereignty of states and the resources of their peoples.

French President Macron expressed his appreciation for efforts undertaken by Egypt and President El-Sisi personally to restore security and stability in the region. During the call, France’s President outlined France’s efforts to achieve sustainable peace and to avert the Middle East’s descent into chaos. He also emphasized the necessity of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and lifting any restrictions on passage through it. President El-Sisi valued this position. The two Presidents concluded their call by agreeing to forge closer coordination and consultations between Egypt and France in pursuit of regional security and stability.
