Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi spoke over the phone with President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the two Presidents discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in light of preparations for the convening of the Joint Higher Committee, scheduled to be held next month in Cairo under the co-chairmanship of the two countries’ prime ministers. President El-Sisi and Algerian President Tebboune confirmed that the Committee represents an important opportunity that should be capitalized on and thoroughly prepared for, in order to advance joint cooperation in various fields.
The two Presidents also exchanged views on a multitude of regional issues, demonstrating a high degree of alignment between Egypt and Algeria, notably with regard to the necessity for the international community to assume its responsibilities and work toward restoring stability in the Middle East.
President El-Sisi briefed the President of Algeria on Egypt’s persistent efforts to end the war in Gaza and begin the implementation of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan. The President also updated him on the ongoing negotiations hosted and facilitated by Egypt in Sharm El-Sheikh between Hamas and the Israeli side, with the participation of Qatar and the United States.
The President stressed the importance of building on the momentum generated by the American plan and the international recognition of the State of Palestine, emphasizing the pressing need to launch a peaceful political process conducive to the two-state solution, in accordance with the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.
For his part, President Tebboune lauded Egypt as well as President El-Sisi’s efforts to halt the war and facilitate the delivery of aid, as well as their vehement rejection of the displacement of the Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, affirming Algeria’s full support for these efforts to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.
During their call, Algerian President Tebboune extended his greetings to President El-Sisi, the Egyptian people, and the Egyptian Armed Forces on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the glorious October 6th victories.
President El-Sisi expressed his appreciation for this kind gesture, affirming that Egypt, its leadership and people, will never forget the important role played by the Algerian Armed Forces during the October War, which clearly embodies Algeria’s Arab identity and its sincere and steadfast support for Arab causes.
